Ever wondered what it would be like to write your first best selling book? And how good it would feel to not have writers block or procrastinate?
To feel the clarity and confidence of having put together all your ideas as an author?
To build credibility, authority and give you the opportunity to do the deep research.
Well for all these reasons and more I’ve decided ahead of any predicted timeline that now is a good time to formulate my ideas into an order that can get someone else from a career they no longer love to a living a lifestyle entrepreneurs life. And I believe you can do this too.
Why write a book?
You can take your life journey, your area of expertise and create:
- A lead magnet
- Become an authority as an author
- Get asked to do speaking gigs
- Or simply sell a best selling book
Am I really ready to write a book?
I thought that I would be qualified after another ten years in the business. Without classing the 40 years of my life which I own to getting here now. I can’t tell you how much it helps to organise thoughts and get clarity. Being able to reflect on journey so far, this will inspire you. It forces you to do extra research and become a greater expert.
And if that isn’t enough, think about getting respect in your field as an expert, an influencer, and the go to on your subject.
In fact it was the Key Person of Influence book by Daniel Priestly that made me finally say yes.
How to get started with planning your book?
What can I write about?
Go with your niche and expertise.
Start by brainstorming a few things every day that you have learnt or experienced. When you get themes there is your concept.
Concept examples include: Parenting toddlers, sleep for babies, building sustainable heating systems, you get the idea!
How long should my book be?
Apparently 40-70k words is a good length for non fiction.
Tip: Checking the word count after every writing session is like celebrating little wins of progress.
How long will is take to write a book?
A couple of hours a day and it can be done in 8 weeks but allowing yourself 12 weeks is ok. It just depends on your schedule. I personally would set a long enough time frame and avoid stop start. It will affect your flow and motivation.
What should the title of my book be?
Do your homework! Find a unique title.
Avoid ambiguous creative book titles
Know the outcome for your readers?
I always like to think that every book I read teaches me something new. I spend valuable time reading it so I expect this. You need to think about how do you want your audience to feel? what outcome they need to get from reading your book?
Knowing the outcome is incredibly powerful.
Are you solving a problem, helping them to feel empowered or inspired?
Top tips during the process to warm up your audience
Share the idea of your book early.
Share quotes from book
